Mr. McCaskill joined the firm in 1947. His leadership and guidance has helped build the firm into one of the largest and most respected in the state. In 1995, after forty-eight years as an active trial lawyer practicing primarily in the areas of corporate law and civil litigation defense, Austin became of counsel to the firm. He continues, however, to represent clients in corporate, probate and property law matters.
Mr. McCaskill attended Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and received his law degree in1942. Before returning to Arkansas to sit for the bar examination, he joined the United States Army Corps of Engineers. During World War II, he was stationed in New Mexico and in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where he served in the Counter Intelligence Corps overseeing the Manhattan Project. During his military service, he rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Mr. McCaskill is a charter member of the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the Defense Research Institute. He is a member of the American, Arkansas and Pulaski County bar associations. And he is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Little Rock.
He is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Arkansas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
